Successful candidates will join a small team of experienced Support Workers working with our client in her private home environment and to support in her accessing the community. The role requires you to support our client with medication, manual handling, social activities, and personal care needs. To excel in this role, you will need to be able to work collaboratively, have excellent observation and communication skills, enthusiasm for the role and a willingness to learn from others. Our client is also looking for someone with a positive mindset that is fun to be around. Our client lives in her own home with her parents and enjoys the company of others, walking her dog in the local park, attending Hockey, and going swimming. Although her speech is initially hard to understand, you will learn key communication skills and be given training to support her with communication aids. Our client currently attends school full time but likes to be active and social after school. You will be working in a family home and therefore will need to be understanding and respectful of family life. In the holidays there will be additional day time hours and support with holidays both in the UK and abroad. This role is varied, and aside from assisting the client both at home and in the community, there is the opportunity to work with healthcare professionals and develop your own skills, as well as completing training in manual handling, medicines and safeguarding. Candidates without support worker experience will be considered as full training will be provided. Personality, work ethic, adaptability and a positive attitude are very important for this role.
