Carer with experience of working with children and young people with SEN.
|
Caring and supporting children and families has been a long standing passion of mine. I have worked in paid and voluntary roles with children, young people, and families, since I was around 15 years old.
I have previously worked as a play worker for Brighton Pebbles, an organisation offering weekly drop in sessions for children with SEN and their families. I have also previously worked as a carer/ personal assistant for children with special educational needs, such as autism, learning difficulties, and Down's syndrome. (References available upon request). I have accompanied these children on residential trips as well as doing respite care at my home.
I also have experience of babysitting and working in schools on a voluntary basis, and am a qualified social worker.
I have a current DBS, first aid certificate and degree level education. I have basic understanding of Makaton and British Sign Language, and have undertaken additional training in areas such as children's mental health.
