I really enjoy working with people with special needs, I find it really rewarding empowering them and helping them become more independent and assisting them.
I have a passion for caring for people with special needs. I have cared for my brother who has Autism and mental health illnesses. I have been one of his main carers for most of his life. I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge caring for him and understand how challenging it can be. I have completed a BTEC Level 3 in health and social and gained a lot of knowledge on the course. It covered many subjects that relate for caring for people with special needs such as caring for people with additional needs, Health Safety and Security, Equality Diversity and Rights and more. During my course I did many placements which I gained lots of experience and knowledge from one of my placements was in a daycare centre for people with dementia. Most of the service users has very challenging behaviour but I still really enjoyed caring for them and learnt a lot there.
I have gained a diploma in Psychology and Health, this furthered my knowledge as I got to see the psychological sides of certain illness and diseases and gained a greater understanding of the cognitive side of them.
