From 1996 to the present, I have worked as a Night Support Worker, working as part of a team supporting adults with learning and physical disabilities to enable them to integrate into the community.
I have responsibility for the care and well being of clients in the respite unit. This includes the following: lifting and handling; personal hygiene care of residents; special feeding requirements including PEG feeding; oxygen management; administering and control of medication (including prescription meds), administering rescue medication; catheters; security of the clients which includes building security; following care plans; completion of reports; dealing with incidents; accepting emergency admissions during night shifts. Also, liaising with on-call in emergency cases, accounting for finances and spend on household items including food for staff and clients; dressing, washing and well being of the clients; laundry and general cleaning of the unit and the preparation of meals.
I have now gained my level 3 in children and young people. I have current first aid and live DBS.
