My tasks have comprised bed baths, washing, showering, dressing, dentures, moving residents/clients from wheelchairs. Moving and handling. Using hoists. Feeding clients, prompting medication. I have worked in infectious diseases ward, caring for patients who are terminally ill. End of life, preparing patients who have passed on to be taken to the morgue. Washing, removing any tubes, catheters, plasters, and dressing them. Filling care charts, patients feeding chart, urine, bowel charts, weighing patients, taking stool, urine samples. Taking patients to their appointments, scans, ophthalmology, cardiology, outpatients. Taking service users out in the community, clubbing, lunch, dentists, doctors, shopping, horse riding, including clients that are vulnerable and have challenging behavior. Knowing what makes them kick off. Staying clam. Presently my clients suffer from autism, epilepsy, downs syndrome, dementia, and are deaf blind. I work alone at night supporting them. Whenever they have a seizure l record the length of time, the seizure experienced, recovery period and if needed call an ambulance.
