Special Needs Care in Christchurch

| I’m friendly and a very caring person I have a big passion for my job and love children to be happy and comfortable when they are in my care. I’m presently looking after an 9 year girl and ha e been for 3 years she has type 1 Diabetes and we work very well together on her daily care plan which includes regular injections every day. We explore the outside world walking cycling I’m a strong believer of daily exercise for the children I care for and also myself. Listening to them having good understanding is a very big key for me and is so important for them. Laughing and having lots of fun and a lot of kindness with good examples. Working well with Parents with a lot of respect and carefully understanding their views for there children and following their guidelines.

| I studied paediatric nursing at the University of Surrey, qualified in September and am now working at Southampon Children’s Hospital. Throughout my time at university I provided day-to-day respite care for a family but sadly having relocated for work I no longer see them regularly. I looked after a their son who has severe autism taking him out on day trips, providing personal care and became part of the family. Whilst at university I also babysat for a couple of local families with able bodied children.

| I previously worked in a special needs school ( Victoria Education Centre) before having children. I was a teaching assistant there and also did sessional one to one work for a young lady with Autism. I often worked in the residential unit upstairs and helped out weekly at the youth club and worked at the Holiday clubs every summer. Before that I worked for the YMCA playschemes, I volunteered there from the age of 12 and stayed till I was 19. I have alot of experience with children/ young adults with various disabilities and needs and have always enjoyed working in this field. I'm currently just looking for a few hours a week until my 2 year old goes to playschool and then hoping to increase my hours once she's older. I have a full driving license and my car would be big enough for a fold away wheelchair. I'm currently 32 years old with a 2 and 5 year old so would need to be flexible.

| 10 years experience in both nursing and home care settings. Nvq qualified NCFE administering medication qualified. Attended many courses such as mental health epilepsy challenging behaviour and also has hands on experiences with this type of care
