Autism Care Leeds

| I am 38 years old, and have a generally calm, positive, patient and playful personality. I moved to Leeds (LS17) from London in mid-August, and I am looking for part-time care/support work. The majority of my work experience have been in academic research, however I have been working with individuals with special needs for the past couple of years. From February 2018 to August 2020 I worked part time at a community farm in South London, helping run a training programme for young adults with learning disabilities. This involved finding suitable tasks around the farm, and encouraging and supporting students as they undertook them. From May 2018 - August 2020 I also worked did respite care for a nine-year-old boy with a diagnosis of autism and a learning disability. I provided a structured day away from the family setting following one of several set routines, typically using public transport to visit a museum or participate in an activity such as swimming. I currently work supporting two clients in Leeds. I have committed Saturday afternoon, Sunday, Wednesday afternoon and potentially Monday to them, but can be flexible outside these days/times.

| Hello, my name is Adina. I am a 21 year old university student who has experience working with a variety of age groups. I have listed 1 years experience, as , professionally I do not have any formal qualifications. However, I am the eldest of 6 siblings, including a sister with Asperger's, a brother with Autism and another brother with both Autism and Down's Syndrome (providing me with plenty experience with children with disabilities). Throughout sixth-form, I began to study part-time to become a carer for my siblings alongside my study. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and writing Young Adult Fiction. I am currently working towards a degree in Childhood Studies (Graduating 2020) so I am educated on the Early Years Foundation Stages.

| I have always had a passion for working with children; from a young age I volunteered at my local church. I worked in a nursery for 2 years and obtained a level 3 qualification during this time. I went on to study a degree in Education, Culture and Childhood and have since done 3 years work in children’s homes. I have also worked in a primary school and elderly home. I have experience of working with children with learning difficulties such as: Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and ADHD. On top of this I have a lot of experience working with children with behavioural issues.

| I have experience working in primary schools, my current role involves working on a 1-1 basis with a child with a brain injury resulting in physical and communication disabilities and afternoons with a child with autism. I have recently worked with a child with severe autism who used PECS to communicate. Through my work in primary schools I have received training in Lego Therapy, using Social Stories, Sensory Processing Disorder and Intensive Interaction. I have a bank of Boardmaker images which are useful when working with special needs adults and children. I am also able to use Makaton Sign language to support communication. I am available weekdays from 4pm, weekends and school holidays. I have a full clean driving license, DBS check.

| I am someone with experience in childhood developmental disorders Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, ID,LD and other childhood psychological problems. I have a background of study in developmental psychology, cognitive psychology and abnormal psychology. I have worked in both clinical setting and educational settings to aid in behavioral management. I look forward to helping families socialise their children into the community just like every other child.

| I have a year’s experience working with young adults that have autism/adhd/learning difficulties in a residential setting. I also have around a year’s experience in a school setting with pupils aged between 11-19 that autism/learning difficulties. In particular, I specialise in managing challenging behaviour and can handle any form of challenging behaviour thrown my way.

| Hello! I'm Alessandra,I attend the course of Teaching Assistant Level 2 and Understanding Special Needs ( I got the Learning Difficulties certificate and I attend the second course about Autism). I also volunteer at the Nursery in a Primary School. I have previous experience with pupils with special needs both in Italy and England. In Italy I worked for almost 3 years with a teenager in the Autism Spectrum: I helped him everyday, from Mondays to Saturdays with his homework and he achieved great results in the years! I worked also with teenagers with differents Learning Difficulties like Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and a girl, a teenager extremely shy who couldn't speak to me at all. They reached really good results too. In England I worked as aupair in London in a family with 3 children, the eldest one in the Autism Spectrum that was homeschooled. I had the opportunity to attend his lessons and I learnt a lot at that time. I would like to get more experience in this field, I am really passionate: I'll be a Teaching Assistant for Special Needs in July. | I worked in a mainstream school where i supported children who had ADHD, Autism and Cerebral Palsy. I currently work within a residential setting for children with special needs and challenging behaviour. Here there is a range of needs from non verbal children, development delays, ADHD, autism and mental health issues as well as challenging behaviour.

| I have 2 grandchildren whom have autism and both are beautiful gifted individuals. I’ve worked in hairdressing for just over 30 years but the last 3 years I’ve been my partners full time carer sadly he passed away 7 months ago and I feel I need to care again and help

I have 10 years of care experience, nvq level 2, basic first aid and life support, health and safety, autism awareness, medication administration, moving and handling and many more. I currently work part time for a gentleman with a learning disability who requires 24hrs support.

| I have been working as personal assistant for children with additional needs since I was 13 years old. This ranges from autism, Down syndrome, chromosome deletions ect. I have also volunteered in a charity for children with additional needs. I have also worked in a nursery for 2 years. I also have lots of personal experience with children and also children in my family who have additional needs.
