| My name is Helen and I am 29 years old (only for a few more weeks!). I live and work in Farnham at a residential care home specialising in dementia. I enjoy anything trivia, from pub quizzes to crosswords to The Chase to trivial pursuit. I also have a big passion for music, especially 60s/70s folk and rock. I began my journey into care as a teenager assisting my father. I then studied health and social care at college and found it fascinating. I also studied social sciences briefly however I was eager to enter the workforce. I was terrified starting as a carer but immediately loved it and that passion has only grown. Its incredibly rewarding to know you've made even a tiny difference to somebody's day. I pride myself in being able to put others at ease. I have been told I have a friendly, warm and reassuring manner. My goal as a carer is not just to keep an individual well looked after but to bring joy into their life as much as I can. I have worked in care for 8 years and have covered many roles. From carer to cleaner to cook to activity coordinator to manager and occasionally handyman. I certainly don't mind getting stuck in!

| I came to the UK in 2004did my Training through Christie’s Care Group worked for them for 6 months then worked Privately looked after a Mr Geoffrey Seymour for 9 years he had a Tumour on his brain ,after he passed I looked after Lewis Gilbert for a year and a half ,Then when he passed looked after a Mr Tim Gordon for 3 and a half years in Kent he had Dementia when he passed I went to Ashtead to look after a lady with Dementia Mrs Marion Gripaios for 3 years 8months till she passed .I have since looked after a my Derrick Wakefield for the pass two years to date .I am available now…

I have worked in nursing/caring for nearly 11 years. I have mainly worked with the elderly. My duties were varied in the community, from taking clients to day centres and collecting them, and shopping. For the more abled, I would accompany a walk, or take them out in their wheelchair, help with taking their medication, personal care, empty catheters, bath or shower, dressing and grooming, preparing their food and assist with feeding and drinks where required. I would also help with housework duties and read to them. Most of the people I cared for, I helped with what they couldn't do in their daily tasks, due to deterioration in their health, but still wanted the independence of being in their own home. Other clients I have had experience with were amputees. I helped them transfer with the use of slide boards or sheets and hoists. I have also had clients with MS, Dementia and Alzheimer's. On the hospital wards, I have had experience working with the elderly during rehab. I worked with those who suffered a stroke or broken a limb. I helped them to gain their mobility. I'm caring and considerate by nature, which is why I'm passionate about what I do. I like to provide a care service. I would be happy if that same care was being given to my parents.
