About Jennifer

27 years old Speaks English
Whilst at home I lived with three younger siblings, two brothers (15 and 5) and a sister (9). I was the go to babysitter in my area as I was always babysitting /cooking and caring for them on a regular basis and thoroughly enjoy spending time with them. I take them out all the time after school and was then introduced to a few other families from my sibling's school who approached my mum to ask if I would be able to work for them. I worked for one family in particular very regularly who lived in our village. This included looking after three boys (ages 4, 7 and 14) and a girl (aged 10). This always felt like more of a second family to me rather than a job. Working with children comes naturally to me and I find it really easy to get on with children and entertain them. I am punctual and trustworthy and am the type of person who will use initiative in difficult situations or challenges I am faced with. An example of this, would be whilst babysitting the children on a particularly lively day, we played our own version of 'Britain's Got Talent' taking turns to perform. This was a fun way of keeping the children occupied. I was often required to look after their cousins (1 and 3 years old). This meant being responsible for six children at a time, which was not an issue for me. I then moved to Sheffield Hallam University in 2015, and although I am studying, I have continued to expand my experience with children by taking on volunteer roles. I volunteer as an Appropriate Adult with SOVA where I ensure that young people's rights are protected throughout their process of the criminal justice system and I support them in a challenging time of their life. I have also been introduced to the National Youth Advocacy Service where I volunteer as an Independent Visitor to children in care by taking them out for the day and doing activities of their choice, providing them with support and stability.
