My mother was diagnosed with Dementia (Lowy Bodies) in 2017, but maintains an independent life, and is still living alone. However recently her memory recall has deteriorated and she's a bit more erratic, so needs daily support.... We have employed a lovely lady, who works about 30-40 hours a week. Acting as a companion, and this is working very well! However, we'd like to hire another person to provide extra cover during the week, along with a few hours over the weekend. Ideally, working part-time (about 10 to 20 hours a week), the main requirement of the role is to provide companionship, ensure mum eats a proper meal and takes her daily medicine. Applicants must have some experience of dealing with people with dementia, a kind heart, patience, checkable references and must be open to undertaking an enhanced DBS (if they don't already have one).
