We try to make the most of the good times, and roll through the trickier times. The ideal candidate would have direct experience of caring for someone living with Parkinson's and/or Dementia and understand the challenging nature of both conditions. Being mentally grounded, patient, reliable and committed are also key attributes we are looking for.

We are looking to add a capable care supporter for my father's care team. He is a very friendly 64yr old with advanced Parkinson's and needs constant support. Commences: ASAP Permanent Part-Time Pay rate: £13 per hour Location: Newington, Edinburgh Saturday- ####-####. (Timings can vary slightly- but this would be main core hours). There will be potential cover and additional work if you are interested in extra work. We are looking for someone to start ASAP with a training session (paid) during the prior week the few days before. We always like to pay and candidates to complete 2-3 training sessions before being solo with my father. Requirements: Care experience is an advantage - but being switched on and willingness to learn is a must. Being able to prepare simple meals- i.e. soups and toast for lunchtimes. Simple medicine support and personal hygiene support if needed. Being able to engage in conversation about a collection of topics and help keep my father stimulated is a helpful tool also. Physically fit- able to go on walks and help my father maneuver into bed when needed. Bonus if you have: Full UK driving license (no car needed) Over 25 yrs old (for insurance of mutability car) also a bonus.
