My father is fiercely independent and physically healthy after a lifetime of sport - but at 87 his memory and anxiety is starting to get worse. He recently failed the driving assessment and his license was removed 3 weeks ago. In the early stages of dementia (missed alzeheimers & vascular). I'm looking for someone to originally to pop-in a few days a week to get to know him and gradually build up companionship and trust so that when he needs more care, he will accept it (hopefully). He loves reading, Classical music and films, and art and most sport - having played football, cricket, snooker, bowls, golf most of his life. His arthritus in both hands means he is unable to paint or play golf anymore but he longs to do both as they have always been his passion. Enjoys good food and trying to cook but I'm unsure how much cooking he now does for himself - the fridge and freezer are likely to need checking and cleaning quite regularly for gone-off food. But he won’t like you doing it and will insist it’s all fine! I work full time but try to see my dad at least once a week. Currently in hospital having tests, he had severe headaches and dizziness last week so I want to find someone in his release from hospital please. Dad would get on best with a male carer please.
