I am a mother of two grown up children. I retired a few years ago after 34 years working in a responsible role with a local authority. For 2 years I was a part time nanny for a family with 3 children under 5 years old. Prior to that I was providing after school care and babysitting services on an occasional basis for a family with two young girls (aged 6 and 11), collecting them from school, helping with homework, lots of play, providing meals and putting to bed when needed. I missed being a parent of younger children and being 'hands on' i. e. reading, playing, helping with homework, etc. I can understand the anxieties of working parents and their need to have confidence that their children are being well cared for. I am reliable, caring and trustworthy but also sensitive and thoughtful. I have close relationships with my own children who seek my advice often (but don't necessarily take it) but I'm not perfect and on occasions may have wished I'd done things differently. I would hope to bring that experience to this job. I can offer working parents the peace of mind that I would put the needs of their child first.
